Mighty+ and Crafty+ Battery Life, Charging Time and Replacement

The Mighty+ has two built-in lithium-ion batteries (3,300 mAh in total) and charges over USB-C. With a 15 V / 3 A supercharger it reaches about 80% in around 40 minutes, while ordinary USB chargers work but are slower. The Crafty+ also charges over USB-C and shows its level with a blue LED. Neither battery is meant to be swapped at home: when capacity fades after hundreds of charge cycles, Storz & Bickel's service centre replaces it.

This guide covers charge times, how to read the charge lights, battery care and what to do when a battery is tired. It is part of our Storz & Bickel guides. A note on the Crafty+: production ended on 1 September 2026, and our Crafty+ and Plenty discontinuation explainer covers what that means for owners.

1. Mighty+ Battery and Charging

Battery. Storz & Bickel lists two lithium-ion batteries with a combined capacity of 3,300 mAh. They are built in, so you charge the whole device through the USB-C socket.

Charge time. Our product page and the manufacturer both give the supercharge figure: about 80% in roughly 40 minutes with a USB-C supercharger rated 15 V at 3 A (45 W). The Mighty+ also accepts normal chargers with a USB-C to USB-A cable, and charging is simply faster or slower depending on the power supply. There is no single full-charge time that applies to every charger, so we will not quote one. If the display shows "SLO" while charging, the charger is underpowered and will take longer.

Charge display. The screen shows six charge fields. While charging they flash in ascending order, and when the battery is full all six stay on steadily. A slowly flashing battery frame means the battery is almost empty. A new device ships with a charge of up to 80%, and the manual asks you to charge it fully before first use.

Pass-through. With a 15 V / 3 A supercharger the Mighty+ can run directly from the wall, even with a flat battery. The display shows "dct" for a few seconds to confirm this mode. While you run it that way, the batteries are bypassed and are not charging. A standard USB charger does not support pass-through.

Heat-up and temperature. Battery drain depends on how hot and how often you run it. The Mighty+ heats up in about 60 seconds, covers 40 °C to 210 °C, and has Boost and Superboost presets that add 15 °C each. Higher settings and repeated boosts use the battery faster, which is why we do not give a fixed number of sessions per charge.

2. Crafty+ Battery and Charging

The Crafty+ has a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery and a USB-C socket. According to our product page it charges about 25% faster than earlier Crafty models, and it is a one-button device with three presets: 180 °C, 195 °C and 210 °C.

The manufacturer's support page explains the blue LED while charging:

  • Steady blue: fully charged
  • Slow flashing: about 61 to 96% charged
  • Rapid flashing: about 31 to 60% charged
  • Flashing blue: 30% or below, or empty

The Crafty+ cannot be used while it is plugged in. You can only switch it on again after charging, so there is no pass-through mode. It can also be charged with Storz & Bickel's optional 12 V car charger. Our Solo 3 vs Crafty review shows how its battery life and portability compare with a longer-session device.

Common Questions

Can I use my Mighty+ while it charges? Yes, but only with a charger that supplies 15 V at 3 A. The display shows "dct" when pass-through is active, and the batteries are not charged during that time. With a lower-powered charger, let it finish charging first.

Why is my Mighty+ charging slowly? The most common reason is the power supply. A basic USB charger, a thin cable or a computer port delivers less power than a supercharger. If the display shows "SLO", move to a stronger USB-C charger.

Is a shorter run time a sign of a fault? Not necessarily. Run time falls as the battery ages, and it also drops if you run at the top of the temperature range or boost often. Clean the cooling unit and replace worn screens before you assume the battery is the issue. If sessions are still much shorter than you remember after hundreds of cycles, the battery is probably worn.

Can I fit a battery from another source? No. Storz & Bickel tells owners not to open the device or replace the battery themselves, and an attempt can invalidate the warranty. Use the manufacturer's service instead.

3. Battery Care That Helps

Storz & Bickel gives practical care advice for the Mighty+ that applies sensibly to the Crafty+ as well:

  • Keep it comfortable. Room temperature, around 20 °C, is ideal. Avoid frost, direct sunlight and damp.
  • Do not routinely run it flat. Aim to recharge when it gets down to about one bar (around 20%), then charge fully.
  • Calibrate occasionally. Now and then, let the battery run all the way down and charge it fully. This helps the charge indicator read correctly.
  • Storing it for a while? Leave it at about 20 to 80% rather than empty or full.
  • Use a suitable charger. A weak charger works but is slow, and the wrong cable or power source can cause problems. Disconnect the charger from the wall first and then from the device when charging finishes.

4. Replacing a Battery

Batteries wear out. Storz & Bickel says that after hundreds of charging cycles any battery loses some performance, and they offer a service to replace it. On the Mighty+ the manufacturer says to have the battery replaced exclusively by its Service Center, and not to open the device yourself. The Crafty manual gives the same instruction. The service also swaps wear parts such as seals and screens, so it works as a full refresh.

  1. Check your warranty first. The Mighty+ has a 2-year warranty, with an extra year if you register it within four weeks of purchase, but battery wear is normal use rather than a defect.
  2. Start a repair request on the Storz & Bickel support site (an RMA).
  3. Send the device in. Do not open it or try to fit a battery from another source.

Because Crafty+ production has ended, check with Storz & Bickel support about service availability before you plan a battery replacement for one.

5. Parts That Wear Out First

When a Mighty+ or Crafty+ feels weak, the battery is not always the culprit. A clogged screen or a worn seal can reduce airflow and make sessions feel flat. Our Mighty screen maintenance guide explains how to clean and replace them. A fresh normal screen set for the Crafty, Mighty and Venty is a low-cost first step, and you can find more fitting parts in our Mighty and Crafty accessories collection.

Final Thoughts

For the Mighty+, a 15 V / 3 A supercharger brings it to about 80% in around 40 minutes, and good charging habits matter more than any trick: avoid heat and damp, do not routinely run it flat, and use a suitable charger. The Crafty+ is simpler, with a blue LED that tells you where you stand and no use while charging. When either battery finally fades, Storz & Bickel's service is the safe route, not a home swap.
